Too Cute...

Every time Gunnar sneezes, coughs, or hiccups he will say "Bless You".  It is just too precious!

Little Mama...

Can you tell Ada is a little Mama? She likes to tease me about my big belly that I had when Baby Gunnar was inside. She thought she was so cute dressing up and pretending that she is me. What a little ham!

What Dave learned...

Potatoes really do explode when they are not poked before baking!

Dave learned an important lesson a few weeks ago, when you bake potatoes you need to have them poked so they don't explode. He has been making potatoes for years (I never knew he wasn't poking them) so when I asked him to put in some potatoes I did not think anything of it. I was burping Gunnar when I heard a loud bang. At first I thought it was something else but then I decided I should go take a closer look at the oven because I had a bad feeling that something was going on in there. While I was putting Gunnar down I heard another loud bang and went to check the oven. While opening the oven door another potato exploded all over me. I quickly shut the oven off and poked the other potatoes with shaking hands as they were ticking time bombs. I just wanted to share with everyone that poking potatoes is a must; otherwise, you will have potatoes crisps and bits and pieces everywhere! Thank goodness for my hidden oven coils (it sure made clean-up easier) now if only there was a way to have recessed broiler coils! I am still cleaning potato out of that area. I am not joking when I say that potato went everywhere! Potato mess cleaned up and lesson learned; priceless (but not without a lot of laughter first).

A Bad Dream...

Benjamin: I had a bad dream last night.

Me & Dave: Do you remember what it was about?

Benjamin: Yep.

Me & Dave: Can you tell us what it was about?

Benjamin: I dreamed that I didn't hug or kiss mommy goodnight.

Me & Dave: That was a really bad dream. Let's make sure you don't have that dream again.

Benjamin: Okay, let me hug and kiss mommy again.

How sweet is that?

What do butterflies do for the winter?

Dave and Ada have been attending story time at the Outdoor Campus (once a month) where they listen to stories and get to make a "project" after the stories. Ada was telling Benjamin and me what she learned. She learned about butterflies, foxes, birds, etc. She was so proud of her bird feeders that she made with daddy. When Dave asked her what butterflies do for the winter she said "they go on vacation to somewhere warm." Benjamin stopped what he was doing and said "there is no where warm around here." Dave and I couldn't help but laugh!

I don't like snow...

Yesterday the weather forecast called for chance of snow. It was snowing in Parker when I left work but it had not started to snow in Hartford when I arrived home. I picked the kids up from Dani's, made supper and about a half hour later it started to snow. I told the kids it was snowing so we all ran to look at the snow through the window. Benjamin was so excited to see the snow as he enjoys playing outside in it. Ada, on the other hand, was wide eyed for a few minutes and then turned and looked at me with the most serious face. With her hands on her hips she said, "Humph....I do not like snow!" Ada does not like being cold so we call her our little Susan (my mother-in-law who also does not like being cold). She was so serious and I had to try so hard to not bust out laughing! When she went to Dani's today she did not want to walk in the snow. The only way she would walk in the snow is if Dave promised to hold her hand. She did the same thing with me when I picked the kids up today. It is going to be a long winter if she is going to refuse to walk in the snow.

Shopping with Benjamin...

Benjamin and I went shopping on Monday night. We needed some one-on-one time and I needed a break from Ada as she is in her terrible two's full force. Dave and Ada had a good night and she went to bed for him with no problem at all. Benjamin and I had a great time. While we were shopping he told that he was having the best time ever. He likes to shop and has a long list of stuff that we should get our baby. We picked up some Christmas presents, my testing strips, and some groceries plus a few other stops. It was a long evening but he was a trooper and never once complained or asked to go home.

When I picked the kids up from Dani's house today she told me she was curious about something Benjamin told her and wanted to ask me about it. Benjamin told Dani that he got a little red puppy from mamma's underwear store. After I got over the shock of what he told her, I then explained that we went to Victoria's Secret to use up a gift card where I was going to get some underwear. They had a promo that if you purchased anything by PINK you could pick out a toy puppy for free. Benjamin picked out his favorite color--red and was so excited about his new puppy. I didn't realize he would say all the details about his new toy puppy like how he got it from an underwear store! I can't get mad at him as he said the truth about where he got his puppy but I can be embarrassed!

A Foggy Morning...

This morning was very foggy. In fact while I was walking Benjamin and Ada over to Dani's Benjamin asked what is up with all this fog. He then asked me where his knife was so he could cut the fog. He preceded to pretend to cut the fog with his pretend knife. Where does he learn this stuff?

A New Place in the World...

I now know my place in the world. The other day the kids and I were walking home from Dani's house (daycare) and Benjamin asked me why it was getting dark so early. I started to explain day light savings time to him when all of a sudden Benjamin stopped me and said, "mom, I will ask Mrs. Hofer at school (preschool) tomorrow because she will know." I thought the teacher knows best when the kids start kindergarten not preschool. My baby boy is growing up so fast!

Church Blooper

On this particular Sunday I forgot my purse which also meant I forgot our offering. Benjamin observed the ushers starting the preparation for the offering and turned and looked at me and asked me where our offering was. I told him that I left it at home. Each time he asked me he got insistently louder and louder. Finally, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, stop being naughty and give some money to the church." All the people sitting around us were giggling and chuckling. I don't think I will ever forget my purse or our offering at home again!

My Birthday

Happy 30th Birthday to me!! At first I was really depressed about turning 30, because man let's face it--that's old! I have a lot of great memories from being in my twenties. I met the love of my life (David) and was lucky enough to have married him. I finished graduate school. I started my "first" out of college job as an Extension Educator. Our son was born in 2005 and we were blessed with our daughter in 2007. I have enjoyed being in my twenties as the memories are great. I kept telling myself, family, and friends that I would actually be celebrating my first anniversary of turning 29 (see I didn't actually have to say 30!). But the more I thought about things, why would I want to stay 29? I went through a lot this past year. In January, I had surgery to remove my gallbladder. In May, I suffered and survived kidney stones (passing those nasty stones a few days before I would have had surgery to remove them and the surgery they suggested did not sound pleasant). And in November, I suffered a miscarriage and lost our baby. So I plan on holding my head up and embrace being 30 and hope that many, many good things come my direction. I thought I would share a picture of how I am handling being "30". It's my blog so just roll with it!

Dave and the kids surprised me with a dozen beautiful carnations sitting in a vase on our kitchen table when I came home from work. They also gave me a beautiful string of chocolate pearls with matching earrings! But the sweetest thing they left me was a note.

By the way, Benjamin kept telling me that it was not my birthday. I asked how come it was not my birthday and he told me that he took it away!

A Benjamin Funny

Benjamin was GRUMPY today!! Boy was he grumpy. When I went to pick the kids up from Dani's house today Benjamin was still grumpy and wearing his grumpy pants. While Benjamin was getting his jacket and shoes on Dani asked him if he was going to wear his happy pants tomorrow. Benjamin said "no, I am not going to wear my happy pants, I am going to wear my comfy pants tomorrow." Travis (Dani's husband), Dani, and I started to laugh. What a little ham!

Too Funny...

During supper Benjamin told Dave that he wanted to watch the bug movie (It's a Bugs Life). Dave then preceded to ask Benjamin what he needed to do first before he could watch the movie. Dave was anticipating Benjamin saying eat supper, take a bath, and get his jammies on but Benjamin took Dave by surprise. Benjamin took a few minutes to think about his answer before he said anything. He then looked right at Dave and said "rewind the movie." I could not stop laughing! It was too cute!!

Cute...No Handsome!

Benjamin's latest: If you tell Benjamin that he is cute he will tell you, "no I'm not, I'm handsome. Ada Mae's so cute." How sweet is that?

Too much time watching mommy!

Benjamin has spent too much time watching me nurse Ada and pump that he has figured out how the machine works. One night he decided to show me how he can pump his "boobies" too.

Hopefully this will not cause any long term issues! But I thought that these pictures were just too cute not to share. He will definitely not be happy with me when he is older!!
