Read to Us Daddy...
Grilling with Daddy...
Reptile Gardens...

We took some time and went to Reptile Gardens. The kids loved it! Benjamin loves crocodiles and was excited to watch the alligator/crocodile show not one time but two. He and Ada even got up the nerve to touch a baby croc. The kids had a great time looking at the reptiles and watching all of the shows. They would just sit there wide eyed and mesmerized. Gunnar would even watch the reptiles and the birds for a while. Gunnar was a great baby on our trip. He is very carefree and easy going which makes it extremely wonderful for us.

Fun at the Hotel...

This past June (yes, I am finally posted a few of these pictures) I had a meeting out in Rapid City and Dave and the kids were able to come along with me. We did a little bit of sight seeing but also had to enjoy the pool and arcade games. Benjamin is our little fish/daredevil. He loved every minute of being in the pool and going down the waterslide. Ada preferred to play the arcade games (just the demos) and by the end she enjoyed lounging in the hot tub. If you notice in the last picture that there is a girl helping Benjamin. He quickly realized that if he acted like he needed help that this older girl would wait around for him and help him out. Dave and I just shook our heads. That boy is going to be trouble when he gets older!

All dressed and ready to go home!

Getting Gunnar ready to go home and for his first car ride. Here we are enjoying our time together with our new son. Daddy even picked out Gunnar's going home from the hospital outfit. Isn't it cute? The shirt has a little crocodile on it that says "see you later". Gunnar is quite the snuggly little bear. He certainly is spoiling us with all these cuddles and snuggles!Sunday, November 8, 2009
DinoQuest...

Benjamin loves dinosaurs! He cannot get enough of them! Ada is even starting to really get into dinosaurs. So for their 2nd and 4th birthday we took the kids to Omaha's DinoQuest Adventure. We went over Native American Day weekend which we were looking forward to all summer long. We arrived in Omaha only to find out that they had received 5 inches of snow! Can you believe it? Our dino adventure was a very cold, snowy, icy, slippery experience. Benjamin loved it and really got into it. Ada could have cared less the whole time we were outside. She came to life the moment we went inside. Everyone received a map of the trails marking where the dinosaurs were and you were turned loose to explore the trails and find the dinosaurs. Benjamin loved reading the map, giving us directions and running to the next stop. It would have been very beautiful walk if the weather was nice. We were one of the only ones there so the trails were ours which was nice. Dave stated that if the weather would have been beautiful he was pretty sure that the trails would have been packed! Once inside there was a museum of things to look at and plenty of activities to do! There was a paleontology lab, coloring station, dress-up area with costumes, books, puppets, and other dinosaur toys. Like I said before this was right up Ada's ally. It was so much fun watching the kids explore while learning about dinosaurs!

Pool Time!

While in Omaha we stayed at a hotel that had some indoor slides. Dave was pretty excited to stay there so Benjamin could go swimming and sliding. Let's just say, Benjamin LOVED it!! He was in Heaven! All we did the first day when we got to Omaha was go swimming/sliding. Benjamin would wake up early and go to bed late just so he could go swimming/sliding! He would sleep hard each night as he was so tired from all of our activities. Don't let the pictures fool you...Ada HATED the slides. She went down each slide once. One time with me (little slide) and one time with Dave (big slide). For the picture I put her on the slide and let her slide down by herself. She did great but she didn't like it at all. She enjoyed swimming and had no fear of the deep water she just didn't like the water slides at all!

Czech Days...
We were actually able to attend Czech Days this year in Tabor, S.D. It was a very hot day! Standing on all that asphalt with no breeze certainly did not help things. We watched the kiddie parade. Benjamin told us he was so excited to see kittys not realizing this was a kid (kiddie) parade but luckily for us the parade was full of kids, kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs so both kids had a good time watching the parade. Unfortunately, there was no candy being passed out but that was okay! Benjamin and Ada had to take flat Benjamin and Ada along too. We (I) had to get a kolache because it was Czech Days. I am still not impressed with kolaches. They seem so tasteless. Give me kuchen any day!
Benjamin and Ada love cotton candy. I can't blame them--I do too! Dave can take it or leave it. The only person that Benjamin was willing to share his cotton candy with was flat Benjamin. That lucky little guy!
Benjamin went on a few rides and loved them of course but he could only take the heat for so long till he finally sat down and said "I want to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house".
Here Dave is enjoying his time in the beer garden with flat Benjamin and flat Ada. We had limited cash, no ATM, and we had out-of-town checks so let's just say we had to be very creative how we spent our $ 20. We ate dinner, got cotton candy, Dave got a beer, Benjamin went on three rides, and Ada went on one ride. I think we did pretty good!
Ada is enjoying a few rare pieces of cotton candy that we were able to snitch away from Benjamin!
A father/son moment. Benjamin idolizes his dad and always wants to make his dad happy and to be with his dad. Plus, I think he was working on his dad to let him go on more rides! Ada, on the other hand, would prefer to watch Benjamin on the rides. She does not like Merry-Go-Round but spotted a ride that she wanted to go on. An elephant car ride. So we bought her a ticket and then she freaked out. She would only go on the ride with me. For whatever reason, that ride made me sick. I thought I was going to lose it on the ride and all the ride did was go in a circle on a track. It had a tiny hill of about 6 inches but it was too much for me.
