Well that was a longer break that I had planned!! Between my kidney stones, being away for work, our Internet not working, and it being Summer I have not had any opportunity (or motivation) to get back to the blog and post anything. I am happy to report that I passed my kidney stone. I passed one large part while the other part shattered. I am still awaiting the lab results to determine what caused the kidney stone in the first place.
I can't believe how cool and wet this spring has been! It seems like it has rained everyday/night for the last two weeks. You can feel the stress that some of the farmers are going through right now do to all the rain. We have not had many beans planted in the area. Some farmers had to scrap their plans for planting small grains and go with something else. In fact, it seems that if fields got planted they have been corn. Some of the bean fields are standing in a lot of water or have been flooded out. My co-workers keep telling me that this reminds them of the spring/summer of 1993. I can honestly say I don't remember that spring/summer. I was just going into high school and farming/agriculture/weather was the last thing that I would have ever thought of. Isn't it funny how God's plan takes over? I vowed I would never do anything that involved agriculture and here I am, an Extension Educator with an emphasis on Agronomy!

Our French Cowboy!

Doesn't he look adoreable? Benjamin enjoys playing dress-up. He loves putting on our shoes, hats, clothes, old halloween costumes, and even my old pursues. He loves wearing his cowboy boots and pairing them with my old "college days" hats. I had to take a picture of him with this outfit, a newsboy hat, cowboy boots, and a backpack. Where's the cowboy hat you ask? Well, he doesn't have one. Note to self: put that on his Christmas list. Isn't the imagination of a child priceless?

Ada and Mommy Update
Ada Update:
I forgot to share with everyone Ada's stats from her 6 month baby well check-up (she was actually 7 months old). Ada weighed 20 pounds 8 ounces (96%). She is 27 inches tall (75%). Her head measured 41.5 cm (12%). Her head measurement seems wrong but that's what they reported. Ada's fat rolls on her legs are starting to slowly match up and so far her hips seem to be okay. What a relief!
Mommy Update:
I went into the doctor this morning with extreme pain on my right side. After blood work and a CT scan it was determined that I have kidney stones! I have never been in such pain. This pain is far worse than childbirth (I can say that--I have had two difficult deliveries). Hopefully, the stone will pass by morning otherwise I may have to be admitted to the hospital. I am hoping that I can write some happy news tomorrow. Please keep me in your prayers.

Bathtime Buddies

Benjamin enjoys doing "projects" and when we looked in the Family Fun magazine he saw these and we just had to make them. They turned out pretty cute and they actually float! Our starfish floats horizontally instead of vertically but he is still pretty cute. I think we needed to use a bigger cork and apply it vertically instead of horizontally but we used what we had. Benjamin and Ada have gotten a lot of play time with these "animals". A great rainy or snowy day project. We did these when we got snowed in at the end of April.

Being Silly and Having No Fear
Benjamin and his cousin Harper are two little daredevils. They both had a lot of fun together and one would encourage the other to have no fear.
Ada's Turn in the Sandbox

Ada loves playing in the sandbox! She does not mind getting dirty at all. I don't know what she does in there to get so dirty but she sure has fun. Benjamin enjoys having Ada play with him in the sandbox except when she wants to use the same toys/tools as him; then there is a bit of a struggle. We can't wait for the weather to become a little more consistent and not be cold or snowy!
